Abstract
A review was done about the membrane preparation based on the thermally induced phase separation (TIPS) method. TIPS is an alternative to conventional nonsolvent-induced phase separation (NIPS) method that has been widely applied in commercial scale. After the evaluation of the thermodynamic of the TIPS process, the effect of the different parameters on the prepared hollow fiber membranes was clearly demonstrated. Finally, the mass transfer assisted TIPS process that potentially can make a big step in upgrading TIPS membranes performance was introduced.
