Abstract

The combination of two tools of the green and sustainable organic synthesis, multicomponent reactions and microwave irradiation, makes it possible to generate diverse libraries of compounds spending less time, energy, and resources than in sequential reactions or reactions under conventional heating. Focusing on multicomponent reactions performed under controlled microwave irradiation in dedicated microwave reactors, the chapter gives an overview of these methods. The selected examples illustrate the effectiveness of microwave-assisted approach versus conventional heating.
