Abstract

This chapter presents elementary aspects of linear algebra related to the operations of matrices, vectors, and determinants as well as its role in the numerical solution of problems that emerge from the study of mechanisms and their applications in the kinematic analysis of robotic manipulators. Linear algebra is the mathematical language that deciphers the physical phenomena to be elucidated. For this purpose, linear algebra is governed by mathematical rules in the form of algebraic operations that are logically and coherently applied to problems in various engineering disciplines. The solution of systems of linear equations is a primary reference of what linear algebra represents for an engineer.
