Abstract

Waste disposal has been a growing concern in all types of human habitats. A robust and sustainable waste management plan is inevitable to protect our urban environment. Globally, the prime objective is providing clean water and sanitation to all by United Nations that being addressed from various perspectives. One of the influential aspects in a sustainable living environment is the application of good waste management practices. Aquaponics has become an important part of an established and multipurpose technology for agriculture/wastewater treatment from micro-level fish tanks to macro-level wetlands. This novel and widely practiced system provide multifaceted benefits by using various types of plants in different farming and treatment requirement, from bio-filters to nutrient providers. Henceforth, the aquaponics and conservation of the wetland with water and habitat management using bio-remediation technology along with the resource recovery and further create a balance in the ecosystem for a sustainable future.
