Abstract

Enormous amounts of data are being generated daily and all this data are heterogeneous in nature. This heterogenous data can be beneficial for the healthcare sector when analyzed to get the value. Here, the data include medical prescriptions, laboratory data, electronic health records, and much more. These data are known as big data and they have a large handling capacity of computational analysis for modern computing systems. Also, for analysis purposes, the Internet of Things (IoT) acts as a major source for the data, revolutionizing the way we think about data. In this chapter, overviews of the IoT and big data analytics (BDA) in healthcare are presented. Emerging advances in IoT and big data analytics for healthcare technologies have helped in the coronavirus pandemic. Also, the challenges, applications, and the future in healthcare are discussed. The paper also explores how the IoT and big data technologies can be combined for better healthcare solutions in this pandemic.
