Abstract

Antibody glycosylation plays a crucial role for the function of antibodies as it influences the binding to different immune receptors (e.g. Fc receptors). Therefore certain antibody glycoforms may have a severe biological impact and are defined as critical quality attributes, which must be closely monitored. This chapter focuses on the biological impact and the pharmacokinetics of antibodies as determined via the interactions with different cell surface receptors. In addition, analytical methods used to analyze the glycosylation of monoclonal antibodies are reviewed.
