Abstract

The corrosion problem of key metal equipment and components in service is widespread, which brings serious safety trouble to industrial production and people’s life, and also causes a large amount of economic loss and waste of resources. Many corrosion protection methods, such as material replacement, surface coating, current protection, and so on are widely used. In contrast, adding corrosion inhibitor has the advantages of simple operation, easy access to raw materials, and a small amount of adding can effectively inhibit the corrosion of metal. There are many problems in the addition of single corrosion inhibitor components, such as poor adsorption performance of corrosion inhibitor, metal pitting induced by local adsorption and weak barrier effect of film on the migration of corrosive particles. Synergistic effect of corrosion inhibitor refers to the combination of two or more components of corrosion inhibitor, resulting in a corrosion inhibition effect greater than the sum of the inhibition effect of each component applied separately. The study of synergistic effect can effectively improve the adsorption uniformity and adsorption stability of corrosion inhibitor on the metal surface, and provide an effective solution to the above problems. In this chapter, the strategy of corrosion inhibition: Synergistic Effects are reviewed.
