Abstract

Sampling of sand is far from being an easy subject to address. If one wants to sample sand, how can one be sure that the sampling is representative of the whole? Should attention be paid to patches of sand that may be more contaminated, or should a composite sample avoid such patches to ensure proper representation? If so, is not the risk of exposure being minimized by avoiding highly contaminated patches? The following addresses these and more issues concerning sampling of sand for fungal analysis.
