Abstract

This chapter discusses the safety in the motor vehicle workshop. In case an accident occurs, the knowledge of first aid and the means for speedily obtaining medical assistance can avert serious consequences. The chapter illustrates a list to stimulate thought on workshop safety. Floor slipping on oil, grease, and trolleys can be prevented by keeping floors and passages clear and clean. Failure because of faults and weakened components can be prevented by regular maintenance, periodical inspection, and testing of the components. Inability to stop machine in emergency, owing to badly positioned stop button, can be prevented by correct installation of the machine. Burns or spatter can be prevented by the use of shields and protective clothing.
