Abstract

This chapter provides an overview of the existing online drug-related databases and tools that can be used in a drug repurposing study. Without going into the details of the used methodologies, a total of 41 databases and 39 tools with summaries of each, including short descriptions of the capabilities, methods, and input/output data contents, are provided. The majority of the databases may be used to extract connections/associations between drugs, targets, genes, diseases, indications, and side effects for drug-repurposing. The tools may facilitate the formation of new repurposing hypotheses or testing existing ones for scientists without extensive computational expertise.
