Abstract

In the fall of 2013, Kimbel Library created a video tour to introduce first-year students to its resources and services. The video, which lasts five minutes and thirty-eight seconds, took approximately 40 hours to produce, including time spent on storyboarding, scripting, casting, recording, editing, and captioning. Topics covered include reserve items, technology, books, study spaces, reference services, and credit courses. Although the video provides useful information, much of the content has become outdated. The format of the original video tour does not lend itself to easy editing; therefore, efforts are underway to recreate the tour to make it more sustainable in future.
