Abstract

The chapter explores that there are fast progresses happening in the development of a new space tourism business. Efforts have been initiated within the United Nations, the UN Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (COPUOS), and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) to regulate private space ventures and space tourism enterprises. This effort seems to be increasingly difficult to regulate as new participants evolve, new technologies are developed, and more spaceports and training facilities begin to operate, and additional countries become involved in this industry. As outlined in this chapter, the quicker the standards and certification processes are established and responsible regulatory agencies are assumed to their different functions with an effective sharing of information among participating nations, the more effective and possible will be the safety regulation and certification processes. Therefore, to think in terms of the various actions, it is required to be processed at the national, regional, and international standards.
