Abstract

Gastrointestinal (GI) disorders commonly affect women throughout pregnancy. These disorders are related to both the mechanical changes of pregnancy and the hormonal influences of pregnancy. Other less common GI disorders affect smaller numbers of pregnant patients, but must still be addressed. Interventions can include both lifestyle and pharmacologic treatments.
