Abstract

This chapter covers the socioeconomic issues and the significant amount of difficulty using essential oils (EOs) in the food chain. In conclusion, commercial production of EO, which is highly lucrative and ought to be appealing to any potential investor, may not be feasible if its various challenges, including light rainfall, growth location (altitude, latitude), and soil characteristics (pH, components), are not adequately addressed. In addition to the fact that the home market is woefully underserved, EO has excellent export potential, notably toward Europe, Asia, and the sub-Saharan area of West Africa, with the goal of bringing in foreign revenue for our nation. This issue needs to be eliminated by the government with quick effect, according to strategy. By offering work chances to unemployed young people, this would aid in reducing poverty.
