Abstract

The concept of ultrahigh risk (UHR) has reached maturity and is now an established part of the clinical and research field in psychosis. In this chapter, we discuss the validity of the UHR concept as a predictor of psychosis and suggest possibilities for increasing its utility and accuracy. We discuss the gap in current treatment options primarily focused on psychosis prevention, while other prominent and persistent symptoms in the UHR population still lack adequate interventions. Finally, we discuss risk in a broader sense, including childhood and drug use. We recognize accomplishments by pioneers in this field and propose areas for further focus in the future.
