Abstract
At the present time, the benefits of a safe environment, and the duty to preserve it, are becoming general priorities for our planet. In this context, while maintaining competitive costs, the chemical industry has to consider the use of greener technologies and friendlier supplies. In this sense, industrial ecology concepts strongly encourage an economy where residues can be used as raw materials for new products and applications, while waste disposal in the environment is reduced.
