Abstract
Competition and standards in the automotive industry pressure manufacturers to optimize all parts of the vehicles, whether for safety or comfort improvement. Each part requires optimization processes in order to achieve the best performance. This chapter presents the design optimization of a car side safety system. Two nature-inspired optimization algorithms, namely, the particle swarm optimization (PSO) and the grey wolf optimizer (GWO) are implemented to solve the design problem. The obtained results compare the performances of both algorithms.
