Abstract

Phospholipases are secreted by different pathogenic strains of bacteria and fungi that are necessary for extracellular virulence, nutrition, adhesion, and support colonization at the tissue level. Microbial resistance and treatment failure is a major problem that has been noticed in the last two decades, so there is an immediate need to develop antimicrobial drugs that are cost-effective and less toxic. In this chapter, we tried to establish the role of bioinformatics and systems biology approaches in phospholipase linked pathogenesis via various tools and highlight the use of molecular docking and protein-protein interaction (PPI) networks to resolve the information related to phospholipase-associated diseases. Using advanced forms of in silico tools the timeline and development of cost-effective drug discovery can be optimized. The application of systems biology analysis via PPI network and other bioinformatics tools is able to simplify the correlation of phospholipase-associated diseases.
