Abstract

This chapter describes microwave mathematics. Specifically, it discusses mathematical functions for microwave engineering, vectors and matrices, vector spaces, linear operator theory, function spaces, vector fields, differential equations and their solutions, and integral equations and their solutions. Phasor notation is shorthand for frequency domain quantities. Phasor notation implies harmonic analysis and the Fourier transform relates the frequency domain with the time domain quantities. Some of the properties of Fourier series include linearity, similarity, shift in time, Parseval's theorem, convolution theorem, and autocorrelation.
