Abstract

Of the many advances in synthetic organic chemistry in the last 60 years or so, the use of organometallic reagents certainly rises to the top or near the top of any list. For the most part, the metal reagents serve as catalysts, but the variety of reactions that can be classified as organometallic reactions is truly remarkable. This chapter will present selected organometallic reactions that have become mainstay reactions in organic synthesis, and many have acquired names.
