Abstract
The indigenous technical knowledge (ITK) is emerging as a critical repository of traditional knowledge. Organic farming (OF) and ITK have values in common that are based on sustainability, reverence for nature, and peaceful coexistence with the environment. The ITK can enhance and complement OF: (1) biodiversity and traditional seeds, (2) ecosystem integration, (3) natural pest and disease management (4) soil health and fertility, (5) cultural and spiritual significance, (6) community engagement and decision, and (7) climate resilience. These ITKs are an organic synthesis of traditional understanding and cutting-edge sustainable techniques. Such types of ITKs are largely organic, environmentally responsible, practical, and economical, and they are used in a variety of agricultural system components.
