Abstract

Nature is the pronounced place to heal. The forest is a valuable resource brought forth by nature, with its terrestrial system filled with numerous heterogeneities of trees and plants. The present study focuses on corrosion of forest cover in the Papum Reserve Forests of Arunachal Pradesh and Lakhimpur, Sonitpur districts of Assam between the years (1991–2005 and 2005–19). The tasks kick off with atmospheric correction of LANDSAT Thematic Mapper and LANDSAT 8 (Operational Land Imager). The density of forest canopy Forest Canopy Density (FCD) model has been used with the amalgamation of four computer-based indices, that is, Advanced Vegetation Index, Bare Soil Index, Shadow Index, and Thermal Index. Furthermore, the fragmented areas are detected with a change detection tool to examine the transformation changes between the mentioned years.
