Abstract
This chapter provides an overview of genetic counseling and risk assessment. Indications for genetic counseling, elements of psychosocial counseling, and points to consider when providing genetic counseling in the genomic era are described. The process of risk assessment, counseling about recurrence risk, and calculating risk using bayesian analysis are outlined.
