Abstract
This chapter deals with niobium and its ferroalloy technology. An overview of niobium is presented, and its properties and reactions with other elements as well as reactions of Nb2O5 with other oxides are outlined with major relevant phase equilibria diagrams. Niobium sources (raw materials) and methods for niobium oxide reduction are presented. Different technologies for smelting ferroniobium alloys are described.
