Abstract

Having considered beams neglecting the transverse shear strains, we will now examine the influence of these strains on the transverse displacements, the natural frequencies, and the critical buckling load. The theory presented in this chapter corresponds in strength of materials to the Timoshenko beam theory for flexure. The equations for strains, stresses, global equations, monolayer orthotropic beam equations, monolayer orthotropic beam equation, general beam equations, and flexure in the plane buckling of a simply supported beam in symmetrical multi-layer beams in flexure equations are derived.
