Abstract
Energies can be classified based on many different characteristics that they have. In general, they are divided into two basic categories: renewable and nonrenewable. In this chapter, we review different types of renewable energies, their histories, present status, and their future trends. We also study the role of technology on renewable energies. The impact that they have on the environment and the advantages and disadvantages of each one will also be discussed.
