Abstract

This chapter demonstrates how to populate the dimensional information mart with data from the Data Vault and the Business Vault. It shows how to deal with common issues and how to create common Business Vault entities. The authors cover issues such as loading slowly changing dimensions, fact tables and aggregated fact tables. They explain the advantages of virtualization and how to take advantage of point-in-time and bridge tables when providing the information mart. The chapter includes some tips and tricks for providing temporal dimensions and performing data cleansing using PIT tables. It also covers how to deal with reference data when loading the dimensional information mart and ends with a discussion on the use of hash keys in the dimensional model.
