Abstract

This chapter discusses several group iterative methods, which can be effectively carried out. With group iterative methods, the equations are first assigned to subsets or groups, such that each equation belongs to one and only one group. The groups of equations for the corresponding unknowns ui are solved, treating the other values of Uj as known. The chapter focuses on convergence properties and applications to problems arising from partial differential equations. It also presents a comparison of point and group iterative methods.
