Abstract

Vascularization of the engineered tissue is the crucial part to develop a functional tissue and organ. Although a good progress was being made toward tissue vascularization, still there are challenges to overcome. In this process, new manufacturing approaches have been effective to improve the same structures similar to the native architecture in the body. Interdisciplinary studies, especially in the field of tissue engineering, have yielded important and thought-provoking results in an attempt to improve the mechanism of natural angiogenesis and its development in the laboratory level. Reviewing past studies will enable us to make better decisions for future vascular engineering. In this chapter, the latest progress in vascular and vascularized tissue engineering have been overviewed.
