Abstract

Tendon engineering is one of the important areas of engineered tissue regeneration, and substantial progress has been made in the past decades. These achievements include tenogenic differentiation of various stem cells, alternative cell sources for tendon regeneration, development of new scaffold materials, and animal models of tendon repair and regeneration. In our center, research work of tendon repair and regeneration has been evolved from proof of concept study to translational application of engineered tendon repair in large animal models, whose works and related literature will be discussed in the present chapter.
