Abstract

This chapter covers two main topics, elasto-dynamic analysis of some mechanical systems and the design of a polydyne servo-cam. In the first part, the dynamics of a bridge crane system and a rolling mill system are analyzed to demonstrate the basic procedures of elasto-dynamic analysis of general mechanical systems. In the second part, a new method of cam design is presented. This method treats the cam system as a vibratory system, and the component elasticity and the input speed variation are taken into consideration in the synthesis of the cam profile.
