Abstract

Many businesses have some type of security service under contract, be it an alarm monitoring station, guard service, armored car service, or security technology integrator. In addition to that, many have contracted for parking management, document shredding, and preemployment background investigators, and view them as business partners. However, in many cases businesses do not know how to effectively evaluate these services and determine what value such contractors bring to the table. In fact, numerous times it has been found that contractors were not fulfilling the terms of the contracts. This chapter will walk you through the evaluation process when you are conducting the security risk assessment, as well as identify key considerations that you should take into account before signing or renewing a contract.
