Abstract

In this chapter, we explore the role of cerebral perfusion pressure thresholds following traumatic brain injury. We start by reviewing the concept of cerebral autoregulation and cerebral perfusion pressure and then move on to examine how these are altered following traumatic brain injury. We discuss the literature supporting current guideline-based global cerebral perfusion pressure thresholds in traumatic brain injury. Next, we explore the concept of personalized thresholds. We end by discussing future avenues of cerebral perfusion pressure-based management including those based on non-invasive multi-modal monitoring.
