Abstract

This chapter aims to explain the evolution of the National Agricultural Co-operative Federation (NACF) and to discuss the factors that had a significant influence on the development of the NACF. Following Jensen (2013), who shows the macro and micro factors causing the Labor-Managed Firm (LMF) to emerge, the research questions are: What effects have the nature of the state had on the characteristics of the NACF since the 1960s? How did market changes and the farmers’ movement affect the development of the NACF? A brief history of the NACF will be introduced before the factors are discussed.
