Abstract

Many mathematical relationships are most efficiently expressed in vector form. Many of the operations of algebra and calculus have their analogs in vector analysis. Three important differential vector quantities are the gradient, divergence and curl. The equations of electrodynamics, beginning with Maxwell’s equations, make extensive use vector notation.
