Abstract

In this chapter, we will study multi-layer symmetric beams, which are composites for which the ratio of width over length is small. The determination of equivalent stiffnesses allows us to use the formulae and methods currently used in strength of materials studies. The present chapter is devoted to the longitudinal behavior of multi-layer symmetric beams in static and vibration loading. The strains, stresses, global equation of tension-compression, single layer, general equations for beams in tension–compression, built-in beam under its own weight and subjected to a force, and vibration equations are noted in the chapter.
