Abstract

Biopesticides offer a balanced crop protection product application, and future formulation products should have more balance between production inputs and efficiency. This is significantly applicable to insecticidal and microbial types of biopesticides because it will be easy to provide single organism-based products to consortium-based products. With the advancement of nanotechnology, different new insecticidal and microbial formulations such as nanosuspensions, nanoemulsions, and nanocapsule suspensions with superior efficiency have been identified for commercialization. The advanced studies regarding the activity of silver nanoparticles have been documented, but there is still scope for improvement in production and application techniques. All these aspects are comprehensively discussed in this chapter. Finally, the challenges of using silver nanoparticles as biopesticides, the mechanism of action, and the environmental issues thereafter will be critically assessed.
