Abstract

This chapter discusses one of the contemporary issues of logistics and supply chain dynamics. In the 1990s and early 2000s mass outsourcing costs millions of US manufacturing jobs. Many companies shifted their operations overseas. Today many of those companies have started bringing some of their operations back to the United States. This phenomenon is known as reshoring. This chapter defines reshoring, how to measure reshorability, and its impact on US transportation and economy.
