Abstract

Drought is one of major challenges which plants face during their lifetime. This abiotic stress negatively impacts plants’ growth and developmental processes, ultimately leading to the decline of crop yield. Hydrogen sulfide (H2S) has a wide range of physiological functions in plants including regulation of vital physiological and biochemical processes under drought stress. In the current chapter, the key roles of H2S in plants growing in water deficit conditions have been discussed, including the impact on photosynthetic performance, the antioxidative defense system, and plant productivity.
