Abstract

This chapter discusses some of the features that are currently available in Programmable System-on-Chip (PSoC) Express. PSoC Express provides a visual drag-and-drop Windows interface to build an entire system of inputs, outputs, and interconnecting logic and formulas. PSoC Express will then configure and program a Cypress part of choice with a new program. It even provides schematic diagrams of what circuitry is needed to connect to the input/output (I/O) pins of the PSoC. PSoC Express requires the PSoC Designer installed as well as any needed service packs. PSoC Designer is invoked by PSoC Express and handed the configuration information and code information necessary for PSoC Designer to complete and compile the entire project. PSoC Express Helper will give step-by-step instructions on how to start a new project or build a custom version of an existing design in the Express Designs Catalog. The Express Designs Catalog includes designs such as a fan control, voltage monitor, temperature monitor, and front panel.
