Abstract

This chapter presents the global efficiency of Sludge Treatment Wetlands from various countries, in terms of:•dewatering efficiency,•characteristics of the residual sludge (contents of solids, nitrogen, phosphorus, heavy metals, pathogens, organic micropollutants),•comparison with other dewatering and drying methods,•drained water quality,•estimation of stability and maturity indices,•quality of the final biosolid material for reuse,•effects of vegetation and porous media.
