Abstract

Due to monument conservation considerations and specifications, external insulation is often not possible. In such cases, interior insulation is the only remaining option. However, building physics considerations, detailed planning, and even hygrothermal simulations of wall components are necessary. Otherwise, frost or moisture damage can endanger or even damage the load-bearing capacity of the construction.
