Abstract

Hair is made of a tough protein called keratin. A hair follicle anchors each hair into the skin. The hair bulb forms the base of the hair follicle. In the hair bulb, living cells divide and grow to build the hair shaft. The normal color of the human hair is black due to melanin. Due to age and malnutrition, black hair turns into gray hair. When melanin secretion is stopped or reduced the hair becomes gray. To black the hair, dyes are used. They do harm in many ways. Nowadays, nanoparticle-included hair dyes are used. In general, this is also not good for health. Natural food and good habits are recommended. The best thing is to appreciate the gray hairs. Legislation may be passed to give incentives to elderly people with gray hair.
