Abstract

As the scale of mining has expanded, numerous solid waste types from mines have been generated. The stacking of waste occupies not only large areas of land resources but also causes serious pollution to soil and the atmosphere or may cause geological disasters. It is of great significance to improve the resource utilization rate of solid mining waste, which can both bring economic benefits and protect the ecological environment of the mining area. In this chapter, typical mining areas are selected as case studies, focusing on the utilization approaches and effectiveness of mining solid waste, such as coal gangue, fly ash, and metal tailings.
