Abstract
The treatment of ventricular arrhythmias in patients with chronic ischemic cardiomyopathy has evolved over the decades from a primarily medical approach to one dominated by technology and invasive interventions. While the implantable cardioverter-defibrillator has offered extended life to many patients, recurrent ventricular arrhythmias are the cause of significant morbidity still. A complex, multi-modality approach by expert clinicians is necessary for successful management of these patients. Future technological advances will allow for the effective treatment of more patients.
