Abstract
The coal fire is a very serious natural disaster, not only because of the amount of coal resources burned, but also because of resultant serious ecological environment problems such as ground subsidence, acid rain, pollution, and destroyed vegetation. This chapter introduces the colloidal material for preventing spontaneous combustion technology of coal and the preparation and injection of gel, thickened colloid, and composite colloid fire extinguishing material. The No.4 coal seam outcrops fire in Haibaoqing was taken as research object; based on the existing theory of mechanism and characteristics of coal outcrop fires, a new fire-fighting composite gel is applied, which fits in with extinguishment of outcrop coal fires well.
