Abstract

In this chapter, the minimum reinforcing steel ratio in an unbonded prestressed concrete section and the characteristics of an unbonded prestressed concrete structure are discussed first, then the types of unbonded prestressing tendons and their anchorage systems are introduced. The flexural behavior of an unbonded prestressed structure under increasing loading is summarized, and a comparison of the stress change in unbonded and bonded tendons under loading is described. Following the calculation of effective stress in unbonded tendons during the service period, the stress change in unbonded tendons due to external loads and the ultimate stress in unbonded tendons at flexural failure are elaborated on, and the stress analysis and bearing capacity calculation in an unbonded prestressed section with bonded prestressing tendons and reinforcing steels are discussed. Finally, the calculations of crack width and deflection of the unbonded prestressed structures are also introduced.
