Abstract

Corrosion is an inevitable problem, which causes a significant burden to any country's economy. It is making research imperative to reduce the economical loses that are resulted due to corrosion. As remedial measure, various techniques and materials have been utilized. Fortunately, metal/metal oxide nanoparticles (NPs) were proved beneficial to augment the corrosion resistance against various harsh environments. Therefore, metal/metal oxide NPs have attracted attention to exploring the corrosion inhibition efficiency with different coating systems. Furthermore, the mechanism of corrosion protection is also noteworthy to elucidate and categorize on the basis of distinguished inhibiting property offered by metal/metal oxide NPs. Literature is well consulted to describe the important factors affecting the corrosion inhibition efficiency of metal/metal oxide NPs.
