Abstract
In this chapter, the approaches used for modeling elastomers have been discussed in detail. The various approaches used in this chapter are the continuum approach, mesoapproach, micromechanics approach, nanomechanics approach, and multiscale modeling approach. In the continuum mechanics approach, finite element modeling (FEM) has been discussed in detail. This chapter will provide the readers an in-depth view of the above-stated in silico approaches for predicting the mechanical properties of different types of rubber-based composites. The approaches will be discussed with the help of several examples for the benefit of the readers. Also, relevant facts on numerous computational investigations performed from basic level to the cutting-edge advanced level, simulations, and in silico molecular modeling, coarse-grain simulations, energy optimizations, multiscale dynamic simulations, all atomistic simulations, quantitative structure-activity/property relationship, have been incorporated with figures and charts.
