Abstract

A phenolic resin composite is a thermosetting composite widely used in the automobile, electronics, aviation, aerospace, and national defense industries. In this chapter, we mainly present the tribological properties of phenolic resin-based friction materials. The friction materials containing different granule sizes and with 5–13wt% phenolic resin content were fabricated based on wet granulation technology. The effects of the final granule size and resin content on the tribological and morphological properties of the friction materials were investigated systematically. The results showed that the friction stability and wear resistance of the friction materials are strongly influenced by the granule size, resin content, and wet granulation technology. In other words, the wet granulation technology could improve the frictional stability and wear-resistance property of the friction materials.
